[Written in 2001] EXILE is 21 year old Tim Shaw, a Philosophy student at Durham University. 9 April sees John B's Beta Recordings label releasing the hefty follow up to his debut 12" single ('Fatal Exception/Undergrowth') of last year.
'The Other Side' features gorgeous vocals by Alex Lane, who along with Tim & Jonny Lattimer make up a separate experimental breaks project 'Fake'. Fake are currently doing very well, their track 'Natality' was granted the status of 'Breezeblock Bomb' by Mary-Anne Hobbs on Radio 1 a few weeks back, and a special showcase set of theirs has been broadcast on the show too. They're currently in the process of recording an album and working towards a live show.
Although Tim is studying hard for his finals right now, he's found the time to produce some of the most interesting, forward-thinking drum & bass around at the moment, and is already attracting some much-deserved attention. 'Fatal Exception' was licensed to Moving Shadow's 'Killa Bytes' compilation last year, and 'Undergrowth' (along with some more recent unreleased material) has been aired several times by both Fabio & Grooverider on Radio 1, and at Swerve. He's also been collaborating with John B on a future single project, and just this week completed additional material for his next single on Beta.
